Zlatan Ibile reveals he quit smoking four years ago
Nigerian rapper Temidayo Omoniyi, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile, has disclosed that he stopped smoking four years ago. The revelation came during a recent interactive session with fans on Snapchat, where Zlatan responded to questions about his smoking habits.
When asked if he still smokes, the ‘Zanku’ crooner confirmed that he had quit smoking and emphasized that he harbors no issues with those who continue to smoke. “A day can’t pass without someone asking me this question. Yes, I quit smoking 4 years ago. And I have no issues with smokers,” Zlatan wrote in response to a fan.
Trend of Nigerian artists quitting smoking
Zlatan’s announcement adds to a growing trend among Nigerian musicians who have publicly disclosed efforts to quit smoking. Artists such as Don Jazzy, Peruzzi, Tekno, and Kizz Daniel have all revealed either that they have stopped smoking or are in the process of quitting.
This trend highlights a shift in lifestyle choices among some of Nigeria’s top entertainers, reflecting growing awareness of health and well-being in the industry. By openly discussing these changes, musicians are also influencing fans and followers who look up to them as role models.
Davido inspired by Don Jazzy
Even mega-star Davido has expressed intentions to quit smoking. In 2018, he pledged that he would be “quitting soon,” citing inspiration from Don Jazzy’s success and healthy lifestyle choices. The openness of these artists about their smoking habits has created a dialogue around health and lifestyle decisions in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Zlatan’s confirmation of quitting smoking aligns him with other Nigerian artists who are making conscious lifestyle adjustments, reinforcing a growing culture of wellness and self-care in the music scene.
