VP Shettima hails late Audu Ogbeh as ‘an irreplaceable institution’

A loss to Nigeria’s agriculture drive
Vice President Kashim Shettima says Nigeria has lost one of its most visionary leaders following the death of former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh.
Leading President Bola Tinubu’s delegation on a condolence visit to Ogbeh’s family in Benue State on Monday, Shettima described the late statesman’s passing as an “irreparable loss” to the country’s agricultural transformation and national development.
Celebrating a legacy of impact
Ogbeh, who died peacefully on Saturday at 78, was remembered for his dedication to food security and rural development — work that touched millions of farmers across the country.
“We have not just lost a former minister; we have lost an irreplaceable institution,” Shettima said, praising Ogbeh’s vision and pragmatic approach to transforming farming communities.
Inspiration for future generations
The VP noted that Ogbeh’s leadership was marked by integrity, dedication, and a deep concern for rural dwellers. He expressed confidence that Ogbeh’s legacy will guide future agricultural policies and inspire upcoming leaders.
Offering prayers, Shettima wished Ogbeh eternal rest and comfort for his family, adding, “His legacy of integrity, service, and dedication will continue to guide our agricultural transformation efforts.”
