He explained that recent allegations suggested his frequent posts have been distracting Nigerian youths from holding the government accountable. In a video shared on his Instagram handle, the activist stated that he wants young people to focus entirely on civic responsibilities and protests.

During his announcement, VeryDarkMan (VDM) challenged other influencers, celebrities, and activists to step up during his absence. He expressed a desire to see if those who criticized his content would take over the responsibility of advocating for the masses.
“I have decided to not post again on social media during this period,” he said, emphasizing that he wants to watch and see the impact of other influencers. He noted that the space is now open for those who believe they can lead more effective movements for accountability.

Speaking further in Pidgin, the commentator stressed that his decision covers Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. He maintained that he is taking a “back stage” to give the youth time to prove that his presence was indeed a distraction to their cause.
