Trump demands release of eight women in Iran talks

President Donald Trump has declared that the United States (US) holds a commanding position as negotiations with Iran resume in Pakistan. The president believes a significant deal is inevitable because the Iranian government currently lacks other viable options.
A high-level American delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, is expected to arrive in Islamabad for the second round of discussions. The first round of talks held earlier this month concluded without any visible progress between the two nations.
Strategic demands and ceasefire deadline
Trump is insisting that Iran must completely surrender its uranium stockpile to ensure global security. He also demands an end to Iranian attempts to control the strategic Hormuz waterway, which serves as a vital route for international oil transport.
A temporary ceasefire, which began on April 8, is set to expire late Wednesday in Washington. Despite weeks of intense military pressure, Iran has so far refused to meet the stringent conditions set by the White House.
Humanitarian gesture as a starting point
In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump urged the Iranian leadership to release eight women who reportedly face execution. He suggested that freeing these individuals would serve as a “great start” to the diplomatic negotiations.
Activists have identified at least one of the women as Bita Hemmati, who was recently condemned to death. This plea comes amid reports of a brutal crackdown in Iran following widespread anti-government protests in January.
Intercepted Chinese military supplies
President Trump also revealed that the United States (US) intercepted a ship carrying a military “gift” from China to Iran. He expressed surprise at the discovery, noting that he had a prior understanding with President Xi Jinping.
The president previously announced that the Chinese leader assured him no weapons would be delivered to Tehran. This incident adds a new layer of tension to the ongoing talks as Iran attempts to restock its military hardware.
