FA Cup: Fulham condemns racist abuse against Bassey after Man Utd win

Fulham Football Club has condemned the racist and homophobic abuse directed at Calvin Bassey following their Emirates FA Cup victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Bassey, who scored the opening goal in the match, was targeted with hateful comments on social media after the game.
In a statement on their official website, Fulham expressed strong disapproval of the abuse: “We strongly condemn this abhorrent behaviour, which has no place in football or society. Such actions are entirely unacceptable, and we stand in full support of Calvin Bassey, who will continue to receive our full backing.”
The club also vowed to work with authorities to identify the perpetrators and take swift action: “We will do everything in our power to work with the relevant authorities in identifying the perpetrators of these vile messages and taking the strongest form of action against them.”
Fulham reiterated their commitment to tackling discrimination: “Fulham Football Club is committed to maintaining a firm stance against all forms of discrimination and remains dedicated to fostering an environment of respect and inclusion.”
The match ended 1-1 after extra time, with Bruno Fernandes equalizing for United. Fulham eventually triumphed 4-3 in a penalty shootout to secure their place in the next round.
