The Donald Trump administration has said it has completed 15 consecutive months without releasing a single illegal alien into the United States, while carrying out more than 3 million deportations and tightening visa and citizenship rules.
In a fact sheet released by the Department of State, the administration described the measures as part of efforts to put Americans first and restore the immigration system after what it called record-shattering illegal immigration under the previous Biden administration. “President Trump has delivered on his promise to fix the immigration system, prioritize American citizens, and protect U.S. citizenship. The border is sealed. The results are undeniable,” the statement said.
According to the administration, more than 3 million illegal aliens have been deported since President Trump returned to office, including thousands convicted of violent crimes. It said the government had also launched a denaturalization drive targeting people who fraudulently obtained U.S. citizenship, with claims filed against 88 individuals found to be ineligible. Taxpayer-funded benefits for over 1.4 million illegal immigrants improperly receiving public assistance have been terminated, and they have been barred from more than a dozen taxpayer-funded healthcare programmes.
Visa processing has been paused for 75 high-risk countries, screening for existing visa programmes has been strengthened, and tens of thousands of illegal aliens have been purged from voter rolls in multiple states. The citizenship test has been reformed to better assess understanding of American history, government and values. The administration recalled that Trump signed an executive order in his first week back in office declaring a crisis at the southern border and moving to end illegal entries.
The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has repeatedly warned Nigerian visa applicants and holders to comply strictly with U.S. immigration laws or risk revocation and deportation. Visas can be revoked for criminal activity, overstay, fraud or conduct that threatens public safety. Nigerians have been urged to use visas only for their stated purpose and to depart before authorised stay expires.
Immigration remains a central issue ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The administration presents the figures as evidence of restored control. Critics will continue to contest both the numbers and the human impact. The structural claim is that enforcement has been sustained for 15 months without the previous pattern of releases into the interior.
