Troops arrest two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Borno’s Mobbar

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested two men suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the arrests on X. The suspects were picked up on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, after intelligence on a movement of goods believed to be heading to fighters in the Yunusari–Mobbar axis. Troops of 159 Battalion and the CJTF intercepted a consignment in the Gumsa area and detained two civilians.

They were named as Mala Mustapha, 50, and Massa Aliyu, 40, both from Asaye village in Damasak, Mobbar. Investigators said they allegedly bought motorcycle spare parts for groups hiding between Yunusari and Mobbar.

Items recovered included 50 motorcycle tyres, 10 crankshafts, 50 oil seals, 31 traffic indicators, 49 acceleration cables, 46 clutch cables, 20 spindles, 10 packs of bearings, 20 brake rods, 75 gaskets, 20 brake shoes, 80 piston kits, 146 chains and sprockets, 11 speedometers and 15 clutch plates, plus other motorcycle components. Also seized were 145 pairs of footwear, two Tecno Android phones, one small Tecno phone and N3,200 in cash.

The suspects and the items were handed to the 27 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation. Military sources said the operation is part of efforts to cut supply lines in the North-East and that troops remain on intelligence-led patrols.

An arrest of alleged suppliers is a logistics story, not a battlefield victory on its own. Motorcycle parts and footwear are the sort of civilian goods that keep mobility going in remote terrain. Whether the two men are later charged, and whether the pipeline they are accused of feeding is actually broken, will depend on the investigation now with 27 MIR. Until that process ends, the public record is an interception, a list of parts and two names in custody.
