Massive APC turnout for Shanono bye-election
Key figures from Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Abubakar Kabir Bichi, led a major campaign rally in Shanono ahead of Saturday’s House of Assembly bye-election.
Hundreds of vehicles flooded the town as supporters gathered to show strong backing for APC’s candidate, Ahmad Kadamu.
Party leaders call for fair elections
During the rally, Kano State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas issued a strong warning against electoral malpractice. He urged security agencies to prevent vote-buying, ballot theft, and any form of violence.
“We’re confident of victory, but it must be clean,” Abbas said, emphasizing the importance of a transparent process.
Tinubu’s projects take center stage
Bichi, who heads the House Appropriations Committee, expressed confidence in an APC win, citing federal government projects as a major boost.
He highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s recent approval of ₦10 billion for the construction of a major road connecting Bichi, Bagwai, Shanono, and Gwarzo — a project aimed at improving rural mobility and agricultural trade.
“This is just one of many investments our people can already see,” Bichi told the crowd.
2027 elections already in sight
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin framed Saturday’s vote as more than a local contest. He said supporting Kadamu would strengthen the federal government’s presence in the area and help build momentum for APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“A win here sets the tone for bigger victories to come,” Jibrin said.
