Tinubu says Nigerians will soon feel economic prosperity

President Tinubu urges patience as economic reforms take shape
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that the country is on the path to economic recovery and prosperity. He made this known during his visit to Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Tuesday, where he called for continued patience and support from the public as his administration implements key reforms.
Speaking at a public event, the President said recent economic policies and interventions are beginning to yield results, noting that a turnaround in Nigeria’s economy is underway.
“Prosperity is near,” President tells Nigerians
Addressing citizens in Owerri, Tinubu said:
“Nigeria’s economy just turned a corner and you will receive prosperity. Those talking negative of this country should stop saying so. Just be patient as all Nigerians will feel the prosperity in due time. Don’t be corrupt.”
The President’s remarks come amid rising public concerns over inflation, high cost of living, and fuel subsidy removal. However, Tinubu remained optimistic, insisting that the reforms introduced by his government will soon begin to bear fruit for ordinary Nigerians.
Earlier message echoes similar optimism
This is not the first time President Tinubu has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s economic future. During the coronation of Oba Rasheed Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan, Tinubu had also stated that the country’s economy has “turned for good” and that “there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
According to the President, Nigeria is already witnessing the early signs of recovery and growth, and his administration is focused on creating a more inclusive and stable economic environment.
Government calls for unity and support
President Tinubu has repeatedly emphasized the need for national unity and collective responsibility in building a prosperous Nigeria. During his speech in Owerri, he warned against pessimism and divisive rhetoric, urging Nigerians to speak positively about the country’s future.
“Those talking negative of this country should stop. Nigeria is a great nation with great people,” he said.
The President also reiterated the importance of integrity and anti-corruption efforts, stating, “Don’t be corrupt.”
This aligns with his administration’s broader agenda of institutional reform, improved transparency, and public accountability.
Mixed public reactions to economic reforms
While the federal government remains confident in its economic direction, many Nigerians continue to grapple with the immediate effects of fuel subsidy removal, currency devaluation, and other austerity measures.
The administration has launched various intervention programs such as:
-
Conditional cash transfers to vulnerable households
-
Grants and credit facilities for small businesses
-
Increased agricultural investment to tackle food insecurity
Despite these efforts, critics argue that the pace of economic relief is too slow, with inflation still affecting the prices of food, transportation, and essential goods.
Conclusion: A promise of inclusive prosperity
President Tinubu’s visit to Imo State comes at a time when public trust in government policy is being tested. However, the President continues to project hope and encourages Nigerians to stay the course.
As his administration pushes forward with its economic recovery plan under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the coming months will be critical in determining whether Nigerians truly begin to experience the promised prosperity.
For now, the message from the President remains consistent: patience, unity, and integrity are key to achieving the better Nigeria that citizens desire.
