Tinubu holds closed-door talks with 6 APC governors amid rising security concerns

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday met behind closed doors with six governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting, held in the President’s office, was attended by Governors Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto) and Nasir Idris (Kebbi).

The governors declined to brief State House correspondents after the talks, but presidency sources indicated the discussions centred on the worsening insecurity across several states, including recent incidents of kidnapping and banditry.

The strategic consultation comes barely two weeks after President Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency on Nov. 26, directing security agencies to prioritise school safety and urging governors to strengthen local early-warning and community-based intelligence systems.
