Taye Currency steals spotlight at Ladoja’s coronation as 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland

Fuji music star Taye Currency thrilled dignitaries and guests on Friday during the coronation of former Oyo State Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.

Currency, born Taiwo Akande Adebisi, served as the official entertainer at the historic event, delivering a performance that not only captivated attendees but also sparked widespread online conversations, pushing him into the top trends on X (formerly Twitter).

The coronation, attended by President Bola Tinubu, state governors, former governors, and top traditional rulers, was marked by grandeur and cultural pageantry. Yet, Currency’s Fuji renditions stood out, earning him praise as one of the cultural highlights of the day.

A household name in Fuji music, Currency began his career at 17 when he co-founded the “Currency Band” with his late twin brother and manager, Rahmon. Known for blending traditional rhythms with modern influences, he credits his rise in the industry to hard work, resilience, and mentorship from Fuji legend, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.

His breakout moment came in 2008 with his debut album Millennium, which cemented his place in the Fuji music scene. Over the years, he has built a strong following, with his songs recording millions of streams across digital platforms.
