Sultan lauds Sokoto Ramadan feeding
THE Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has commended Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, on this year’s arrangement of the Ramadan feeding programme.
Giving the commendation while delivering his Sallah message at the palace’s pavilion in Sokoto, on Wednesday, he expressed satisfaction with the large number of people fed under the state-wide Ramadan feeding programme and called on the governor to sustain the gesture.
He added, “I also like to commend the governor for the financial assistance to the needy, especially our Imams and Quranic teachers across the state.
“We equally appreciate the developmental projects being executed by the governor.
“We, therefore, need to support him to do more for our dear state.”
The Sultan also praised Governor Aliyu for approving the payment of half salary as a Ramadan gift to civil servants and pensioners in the state, describing the gesture as the first of its kind.
He further appealed to individuals with wherewithal in the state to continue to assist the needy, in a bid to attract rewards from Allah.
The spiritual leader called on parents and guardians to enroll their wards into both Islamic and Western schools, to be useful members of society.
“We need to take the issue of education very seriously if we want our state and the county to develop,” he said.
