Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Friday led Senator Aliyu Wadada to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he formally presented him to President Bola Tinubu as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The presentation comes after Governor Sule recently announced Wadada as his preferred successor during a meeting with political appointees at the Nasarawa State Government House.
Sule said the process of selecting a successor had been ongoing for over a year and involved extensive consultations beyond the state. He explained that the engagements included discussions with foreign and prospective investors, youth groups, women organisations, traditional rulers, party officials, stakeholders across Nasarawa’s three senatorial zones, and selected members of his cabinet.
The governor said the broad consultations were aimed at ensuring a widely acceptable candidate for continuity in governance and development in the state.
