Steven Gerrard names his top 3 wingers in world football

Liverpool icon picks Yamal, Vinicius, and Salah

Football legend Steven Gerrard has named his current top three wingers in the world — and it’s a mix of youth, flair, and experience.

In a quickfire Q&A with ESPN, the former Liverpool captain and Aston Villa coach picked:

  • Lamine Yamal (Barcelona)

  • Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid)

  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

A mix of rising stars and proven talent

Yamal, still only a teenager, was instrumental in Barcelona’s LaLiga title win last season and is already in the conversation for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Vinicius, who dazzled throughout Real Madrid’s 2023/24 campaign, finished second in the 2024 Ballon d’Or, just behind Rodri of Manchester City.

And Salah, still going strong at 33, helped lead Liverpool to another Premier League title last season, continuing his reign as one of the most consistent forwards in world football.
