A friendship turned political alliance
Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, says his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections isn’t just politics—it’s personal. Speaking after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, Soludo revealed he’s been friends with Tinubu for over two decades and won’t deny that bond.
“Progressives should work together,” Soludo said, wearing a white cap with Tinubu’s insignia. “I have no apologies for my support. He’s my friend, and I’m impressed by his bold economic and structural reforms.”
Not the same party, same vision
Though Soludo leads the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Tinubu is in the APC, the governor believes progressive-minded parties should unite in a “massive coalition” to strengthen democracy and drive development.
Tackling insecurity in Anambra
Soludo also shared updates on peace efforts back home, crediting both “kinetic” and “non-kinetic” strategies. He says his government passed the Homeland Security Law in January, cracking down on “deadly native doctors” accused of misleading youths into crime.
“These elements are now on the run,” he noted, adding that the state is pairing law enforcement with empowerment programs.
Youth empowerment at the core
According to Soludo, about 5,000 young people have already completed a one-year skills training program, with 8,700 more set to receive major funding soon. His target? “Thousands of youth millionaires within the first three years.”
The governor stressed that alongside roads, schools, and hospitals, the state is heavily investing in social and economic empowerment to keep young people engaged and away from crime.
