PRP asks President Tinubu to resign over insecurity

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) on Thursday called on President Bola Tinubu to resign from office immediately over worsening insecurity. The opposition party accused the president of failing in his primary constitutional duty to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

In a statement signed by the PRP National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the party argued that violent crime has spread across the country. The opposition group noted that citizens facing daily threats cannot afford to wait until the 2027 general elections for a change in leadership.

“It is now beyond doubt that President Bola Tinubu has failed woefully in discharging his foremost responsibility as President of Nigeria,” Baba-Ahmed stated.

Growing vulnerability of children

The opposition party maintained that security challenges have worsened under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, leaving more citizens vulnerable. The statement emphasized that no Nigerian appears safe under the current leadership, stretching from Bama to Badagry.

The PRP raised concerns over the vulnerability of schoolchildren and other soft targets amid persistent attacks by criminal groups. Baba-Ahmed faulted the president’s handling of security, arguing that the concentration of political authority at the center has not improved protection.

The party urged Nigerians to demand an end to leadership ineptitude, insisting that incompetent governance should not be tolerated regardless of tenure length. This political development reflects the growing pressure on the presidency as reported by Daily Trust and Premium Times.
