Police arrest Nigerian singer Speed Darlington again after recent release

On Wednesday, November 27, Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, was arrested once again by the Nigeria Police Force, just two months after his previous release.

Speed Darlington, also referred to as Akpi, was taken into custody on October 4, following the release of a controversial video where he allegedly mocked his colleague Burna Boy’s association with American rapper Diddy, who is currently facing legal issues with the FBI over charges of sexual exploitation. The outspoken artist was subsequently granted bail on October 9, after spending five days in detention.

The singer’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest in a post on his official Facebook page, revealing that Speed Darlington had been detained in Owerri while attending a show.

Efforts by DAILY POST to reach the Nigeria Police Force for comment on the latest arrest were unsuccessful, as Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, did not respond to calls.
