APC chieftain advises governors to communicate policy decisions before implementation

On Friday, March 7, Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged state governors across Nigeria to communicate their policy decisions to citizens before putting them into effect.
Mumuni made the statement in response to the recent closure of public schools in some northern states, including Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, and Bauchi, which have announced that schools will remain closed during Ramadan. This decision has sparked controversy and opposition from some stakeholders.
In his reaction, Mumuni emphasized the importance of clearly and promptly informing the public about the reasons behind such decisions. He pointed out that effective communication could help prevent confusion and ensure that everyone understands the rationale for the closures.
Mumuni stated, “I appreciate the intention behind this decision to close schools temporarily to accommodate children observing fasting during Ramadan. However, I believe it is essential to communicate the reasons for the closure more effectively to the public.”
He further explained that many parents might not fully understand the challenges that fasting poses for children, particularly those in boarding schools. “The inability to manage their daily activities while fasting can affect their health and academic performance,” he said. “The decision to prioritize the well-being of students is commendable, but it is important to foster better understanding by providing clear and timely information.”
Mumuni’s advice is aimed at ensuring smoother implementation of such policies and encouraging public support through transparency and proper communication.
