PDP governorship candidate faults Fayose for endorsing Oyebanji in Ekiti

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has strongly faulted former Governor Ayodele Fayose for endorsing the incumbent governor. Oluyede insisted that the current performance of Governor Biodun Oyebanji does not justify any form of political support or validation.
Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the PDP standard-bearer dismissed suggestions that Fayose’s endorsement would alter the political landscape. While acknowledging the constitutional right of the former governor to choose his allies, Oluyede described the endorsement as a wrong political judgment.
The medical doctor turned politician argued that political endorsements must always be based on tangible, measurable achievements in governance. He maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has performed woefully below the expectations of ordinary citizens in critical sectors.
Security situation worsens
Oluyede expressed deep disappointment that a veteran politician like Fayose would lower the threshold of governance evaluation despite glaring infrastructural deficits. The governorship hopeful pointed out that many communities in Ekiti State currently live in perpetual fear due to unchecked criminal activities.
“I respect Fayose and his right to support whoever he wants. We have no personal issues. But if you ask me, he has made the wrong choice in supporting this government,” Oluyede stated.
The PDP candidate criticized the state government for its inadequate response to rural insecurity and the dilapidated state of local police facilities. He also questioned the transparent utilization of the monthly security votes allocated to the state, demanding absolute accountability from the governor.
Interestingly, Oluyede reaffirmed his personal support for President Bola Tinubu, clarifying that his national stance predates his current political alignments. He urged Ekiti voters to ignore elitist declarations and judge the candidates based on their competence during the forthcoming polls.
