PDP chieftain FredFish urges Wike’s expulsion, accuses him of anti-party activities

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State and Chairman of the PDP Advocate for Peace and Justice (PAPAJ), Dr. Tom FredFish, has called for the immediate expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the party.

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Uyo, FredFish criticized Wike’s recent claim that no one in the party has the authority to expel him. He urged the PDP leadership to invoke relevant constitutional provisions to remove Wike, whom he accused of persistently undermining the party’s unity and electoral prospects.

“If Mr. Wike says he is working hard for the party, the right question Nigerians should ask is: what kind of hard work? Is it positive or negative?” FredFish queried. “How can a man who has been working against the interests of the party after failing to clinch the 2023 presidential ticket now claim loyalty?”

FredFish pointed to Wike’s alleged role in undermining the PDP during the 2023 elections and accused him of orchestrating the defection of 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite Rivers being a PDP-governed state.

According to him, “Mr. Wike was appointed to destroy the PDP and he’s doing the job very well. He should not expect party faithful across the country to applaud him for sabotaging the efforts of party leadership.”

FredFish also condemned Wike’s frequent public criticisms of PDP leaders, particularly referencing his recent remarks about Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

“The PDP Advocate for Peace and Justice is calling on the party’s Board of Trustees led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and other respected leaders to mobilize the National Working Committee (NWC) to invoke Sections 10(6), 57, and 58 of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017,” he said.

He concluded that Wike’s expulsion, under Section 59 of the PDP Constitution, is both necessary and urgent to preserve the party’s integrity and cohesion.
