Osuofia celebrates 70th birthday, reflects on Nollywood legacy

On Friday, February 7, 2025, veteran Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh, famously known as Osuofia, celebrated his 70th birthday, marking a significant milestone in his life and career.

Taking to social media to express his gratitude, Owoh shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram (@osuofia_nkemowoh), writing: “Chi efogo, and it is my 70th birthday. What else can I say? To God be all the glory. Special thanks to you all for being part of this journey. I love you all.”

A flood of well-wishes poured in from fellow Nollywood stars and entertainment figures.

Nkem Owoh, born on February 7, 1955, has been a central figure in Nollywood for decades, known for his distinct comedic style and memorable performances. His career includes winning the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 for Stronger than Pain.

In 2017, Owoh was honored with the AMAA Lifetime Achievement Award, cementing his legacy as one of Africa’s most beloved actors. His iconic role in Osuofia in London remains a defining moment in Nollywood’s cinematic history.

As he marks this special occasion, Nkem Owoh’s influence continues to inspire generations of actors and filmmakers, leaving a lasting impact on African cinema.
