Ondo people will unite for Tinubu’s re-election, says Tunji-Ojo

Minister reaffirms support for President Tinubu in Ondo
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has declared that the people of Ondo State are united in their support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said this unity reflects the collective appreciation of Ondo citizens for the President’s developmental strides across the state and the nation.
Speaking during a major political event in Akure, the state capital, Dr. Tunji-Ojo praised the people of Ondo for their loyalty and commitment to national progress. The event marked the official defection of members of the Nigeria Workstation — a grassroots media advocacy, research, and strategy group — from opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the Action Alliance (AA) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The minister, who was represented by Chief Muyiwa Asagunla, expressed gratitude to the defectors for their decision to join the APC, describing it as a move that strengthens the party’s dominance in the state.
Tinubu’s infrastructural projects earn public praise
Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended President Tinubu for the numerous infrastructural projects ongoing in Ondo State. These, he said, include the dualisation of the Ore–Akure Road, the Ilesha–Akure–Benin Road, and the Akure–Ado-Ekiti Road. He also highlighted the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, a transformative project that passes through Ondo State and promises to boost trade, connectivity, and tourism.
According to the minister, these projects are proof of President Tinubu’s commitment to equitable development and regional integration. He noted that the people of Ondo have every reason to rally behind the President to ensure the continuation of his “Renewed Hope” agenda beyond 2027.
APC leadership welcomes defectors into the party
Receiving the new members, the APC State Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, who represented the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, assured the defectors of full inclusion and equal opportunities within the party.
He emphasized that the APC remains open to all who believe in the vision of progress, unity, and prosperity for Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
“The APC has enough room to accommodate everyone who shares our mission for development,” Adetimehin said. “The Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu is already bringing visible results, and it is our responsibility to support him to do even more.”
Defectors cite disunity in opposition parties
Speaking on behalf of the new members, Hon. Kennedy Peretei, the convener of the Nigeria Workstation, said they decided to leave the opposition because of poor leadership and lack of strategic focus.
According to him, “The leadership of the opposition parties has failed to present a coordinated and deliberate plan to win elections. Today marks the collapse of the last plank of opposition in Ondo State. From now on, Ondo is APC territory.”
Peretei added that the defection is only a small demonstration of the group’s numerical strength, noting that many more supporters are ready to align with the APC in the coming months. He expressed confidence that the significance of their decision would become evident in the next general elections.
Appreciation to Ondo APC leaders and stakeholders
Hon. Peretei extended appreciation to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Interior Minister Dr. Tunji-Ojo, and APC State Chairman Ade Adetimehin for welcoming them warmly into the party. He also acknowledged the contributions of several party leaders and community stakeholders, including Ambassador Sola Iji, Dr. Tob Loko, Chief Ebi Molos, Chief J.M. Magi, Chief P.M.S. Olopele, Senior High Chief Bibopere Ajube, and Chief Matthew Oyerinmade.
With growing unity among political stakeholders in Ondo State, the event signals a new chapter in the state’s political landscape — one that aligns with the APC’s vision of continued development, stability, and prosperity for all citizens.
