Ondo APC denies internal crisis ahead of 2027 election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has dismissed claims of internal division within the party, affirming that it remains united and strong under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

In a statement released in Akure by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, the APC described recent reports suggesting a brewing political crisis as baseless and misleading.

“The party is not polarised, but waxing stronger and united under the leadership of the State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa,” the statement read.

Kalejaye was responding to a publication by an unnamed author alleging that a political showdown was imminent within the Ondo APC and that State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, had met with local government party chairmen in Abuja to make critical decisions ahead of the 2027 general election.

He dismissed the report as “a mere fabrication,” stating, “We want to say categorically that no meeting of such was ever held in Abuja. The local government party chairmen were alarmed by the outright falsification and wicked imagination.”

He further warned those behind the alleged misinformation to desist or risk being exposed, adding that the party operates with transparency and is guided by the authority of its leadership.

“Mr. Governor is the leader of the State chapter, and no major decision can be taken without his consent and endorsement, including who contests for whatever elective position,” Kalejaye emphasized.

Reaffirming the party’s internal cohesion, he urged members and supporters to remain loyal and focused on the party’s collective goals.

He concluded by stating that the party is committed to advancing the physical and economic development of Ondo State, in line with the administration’s broader vision.

“The State chapter will continue to pursue goals and aspirations that promote the well-being of our party faithful in particular, and the State in general,” he added.
