Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has announced his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omisore made the declaration in a post on his official X handle on Saturday, stating that his formal public declaration will take place on October 7 at the APC secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital. The event will hold under the theme “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.”

He urged party members and citizens to attend, describing the declaration as the beginning of the “Osun Rescue Mission 2026.”

“My beloved people of Osun State, after deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC,” Omisore wrote.

“This is not just my mission, it is a collective one. I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun,” he added.

Omisore, a former senator, has been a major player in Osun politics for decades, with past bids for the governorship under different political parties. His entry into the 2026 race is expected to further shape the political dynamics by within the APC and across the state.
