Nigeria’s Prince Lawrence Ezeh listed among Africa’s most influential figures

Nigeria’s Dr Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh, Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, has been listed among Africa’s most influential public figures in the 2025 edition of the Who’sWho Africa Bibliography Compendium.
Ezeh was recognised for his contributions to engineering, industrial entrepreneurship and innovation-driven leadership, joining a select group of African leaders whose work continues to shape governance, business, science and culture across the continent.
The annual compendium, regarded as one of Africa’s most authoritative registers of influence, features prominent Nigerians including World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; computer scientist Philip Emeagwali; former African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina; former Zenith Bank CEO Ebenezer Onyeagwu; and Catholic Cardinal Francis Arinze.
Also listed are leading traditional rulers such as Sultan Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III of Sokoto, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and the Olú of Warri, Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatsé III.
From the business and finance sector, the compendium highlights figures including Mike Adenuga, Tony Elumelu, Femi Otedola, Prof Benedict Oramah, Dame Adaora Umeoji, Dr Stella Okoli, and other industrialists and financiers. Cultural icons such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Pete Edochie and Olu Jacobs also made the list, alongside global public servants including UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
Ezeh’s inclusion marks a major milestone in a career that blends technical expertise with public-sector leadership. Born into the royal family of the Mburubu Kingdom in Enugu State, he is a Marine Engineering graduate of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, with a Master’s degree in Engineering Management and a doctorate in a related field. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a COREN-registered chartered engineer.
In 2002, he founded Buzuzu International Limited, which evolved into a diversified industrial group operating in construction, industrial coatings and oil and gas services. As Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ezeh has promoted local content development and indigenous capacity in Nigeria’s industrial sector.
As Enugu State’s Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, he is driving policies aimed at transforming the state into a knowledge-based economy through youth innovation programmes, digital strategies and stronger industry–academia collaboration.
He also leads the Prince and Princess Lawrence Ezeh Foundation, which supports education, widows, small businesses and community development initiatives.
His recognition in the 2025 Who’sWho Africa Compendium underscores his growing influence in technology, industry and public service, placing him among Africa’s most impactful contemporary leaders.
