Nigeria Customs helps export goods worth over $1.5 billion in just six months

The Lilypond Export Command (LEXC), a special team of the Nigeria Customs Service, has shared some exciting news! From January to June this year, they helped export goods worth $1.586 billion — that’s a big jump from the same time last year.

The head of the team, Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya, explained that they moved over 27,000 containers filled with goods. That’s almost three times more than they did last year!

These exports came from four main areas:

  • Farms (like cocoa, ginger, and sesame seeds)

  • Factories (things made in Nigeria)

  • Mines (solid minerals like tin and limestone)

  • Others

Among all of them, farm produce made the most money — nearly $967 million! This is a huge increase from last year’s number, which was just about $289 million.

Goods made in Nigerian factories also did very well, bringing in over 2 trillion naira — way more than the 170 million naira recorded the year before. This shows that more things are being made in Nigeria and sold to other countries, not just oil.

The Customs team also collected N12 billion in official fees, which goes back to help the country.

Odusanya praised everyone working hard in the export business — from farmers to factory workers, truck drivers, and more. He also thanked the Customs boss, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for giving the team the tools and support they need to do their job well.

He encouraged everyone involved in exports to follow the rules, stay honest, and learn about what is and isn’t allowed to be exported.

Odusanya ended by saying he’s hopeful that even bigger achievements will come in the months ahead, especially with the help of new tools like the B’Odogwu digital platform, which helps manage exports more smoothly.
