The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has urged Christian pilgrims from Imo and Adamawa States to Israel and Jordan to pray for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Adegbite made the appeal over the weekend while addressing pilgrims at the Pilgrims’ Terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. He said President Tinubu remained committed to meeting the needs of Nigerians and urged the faithful to support him with prayers.
“Mr. President wants you to be satisfied, and as such he is doing everything possible to fix Nigeria,” he said. Adegbite also noted that the President had been supportive of both Christian and Muslim pilgrimages, adding that the NCPC would uphold its slogan, Service and Satisfaction, by ensuring pilgrims have a fulfilling experience.
The NCPC boss further urged the pilgrims to pray for Nigeria as the nation marks its 65th Independence anniversary, and also remembered the First Lady’s 65th birthday, which coincided with Nigeria’s independence year. He described the coincidence as providential.
He called on pilgrims to intercede for peace in Nigeria, Israel, the Middle East, and troubled nations worldwide, affirming that “Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, and so He will give peace to every nation that needs it.”
Adegbite also appealed to the pilgrims to pray for their governors and families, warning against absconding during the trip, which he said would bring shame to their families, states, and Nigeria. “The Commission will continue to strive for zero cases, and we have put every mechanism in place to checkmate it,” he cautioned.
Meanwhile, the third batch of pilgrims arrived safely at the Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan, at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday to begin their 10-day pilgrimage programme in Jordan and Israel.
