NAPTIP summons Speed Darlington over disturbing minor misconduct claims

Controversial entertainer Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, has been summoned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) following explosive allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor.
The development, which emerged after a troubling Instagram Live session in which the singer claimed to have engaged in a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl, has sparked widespread outrage and prompted official action.
On Thursday, May 29, NAPTIP confirmed it had issued an official summons to the musician, warning that failure to comply would result in appropriate legal steps. The agency emphasized its unwavering commitment to protecting minors and holding perpetrators accountable.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) had earlier reported the case to NAPTIP, urging an immediate and comprehensive investigation into what it described as “disturbing claims.”
In response to the backlash, Speed Darlington released a follow-up video claiming his statement was nothing more than a marketing stunt for an upcoming song. He issued an apology, stating that he “meant no harm” and was “sorry for any offence or distress” the comments may have caused.
Nevertheless, NAPTIP has maintained its stance, declaring its readiness to uphold justice and pursue any acts that threaten the safety or dignity of minors.
