Morocco dominates 2025 CAF Awards, Falcons and Nnadozie secure top honors

The 2025 edition of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards was held in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday night, with the host nation emerging as the biggest winners across both the men’s and women’s categories. The ceremony celebrated the continent’s top talents, though it confirmed a night of missed opportunities for Nigeria’s star forward, Victor Osimhen.
Moroccan dominance was sealed with their two top awards: Achraf Hakimi was crowned the Men’s Player of the Year, and Ghizlane Chebbak secured the Women’s Player of the Year title.
Nigeria’s notable victories and Chiamaka Nnadozie’s historic run
Despite the overall Moroccan sweep, Nigeria still registered crucial victories, showcasing the strength of the nation’s women’s football program.
The Super Falcons secured the coveted Women’s National Team of the Year award, a testament to their sustained performance and continental standing. This recognition highlights the team’s resilience and quality in a highly competitive field.

Furthermore, Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie secured a significant individual achievement. She was named the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, marking her third consecutive time winning the award. Nnadozie’s consistent excellence between the posts makes her one of the continent’s most decorated players in her position, underscoring her vital role in the national team’s success.
The Nigerian delegation, however, saw one of its biggest stars, Victor Osimhen, miss out on the top prize, with the Men’s Player of the Year award going to Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi.
