Says surveillance deal was awarded before Oborevwori took office
Eshanekpe Israel, better known as Mayor Akpodoro, has publicly dismissed claims that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was involved in awarding the controversial oil pipeline surveillance contract to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).
Speaking to journalists in Abuja over the weekend, Akpodoro clarified that the contract was awarded back in 2022, before Oborevwori became governor.
“Check the facts, it’s public record”
Akpodoro, who also heads the Association of Urhobo Mayoral Family Crown (AUMFC), said the timeline of the contract is clear and already on public record. He urged critics to fact-check before making accusations.
“While I’ve had my issues with some of the governor’s policies,” he said, “there’s no factual basis to tie him to the Tantita contract.”
The security deal was awarded to TSSNL, a firm led by ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.
TSSNL praised for youth jobs and oil facility protection
Akpodoro didn’t just clear the air—he also gave credit where it’s due. He commended Tantita for helping reduce unemployment in Delta State by offering jobs to local youth and effectively securing vital oil infrastructure.
He went further to urge the Federal Government to expand TSSNL’s operations, citing the company’s “technical expertise and administrative competence” as reasons to scale their impact across the region.
