Maresca provides injury update on key Chelsea players ahead of Southampton clash
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has offered an update on the injuries of Reece James and Wesley Fofana as the Blues prepare for their Premier League match against Southampton on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
Fofana was forced off in the 60th minute during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday, December 1, after sustaining a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, James has been dealing with a similar issue since the international break.
At his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, December 3, Maresca commented on Fofana’s situation: “We don’t have any update at the moment. It happened two days ago, so we need to wait a little bit. We are hoping to get some more news in the next few days, but for sure, he will be out for the next weeks.”
On James, Maresca added, “He’s in the same situation, more or less. He’s getting better, but he still needs weeks to come back.”
