Manchester United tops chart for average league attendance this season

Manchester United has seen the most fans attend their matches on average this season, topping the chart with 73,523.

This was revealed in Transfermarkt’s article, detailing the biggest crowds in England this season.

The article presents some interesting facts, like West Ham United boasting the second biggest crowd (62,433) in England.

Arsenal ranks 4th (60,213), Liverpool ranks 5th (54,287), Manchester City – often taunted for having an empty stadium during games – ranks 6th (53,194), and you don’t find Chelsea until 10th (39,633) place.

These facts may be interesting, but they’re not particularly unsurprising, as the average attendance is impacted significantly by the stadium capacity, and Manchester United’s stadium, Old Trafford, has the highest capacity in England (74, 310), followed by West Ham’s home stadium, the London Stadium, with capacity of 62,500.
