Manchester City and Arsenal go goalless, relinquish first place

Manchester City faced Arsenal at the Etihad in a key title clash that ended up without a goal scorer, on Sunday, March 31.

Man City controlled possession for the whole game, but ended up not threatening Arsenal much, as the game ended 0-0.

This result  means Liverpool stays top of the table, after winning its own game 2-1 in a comeback victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.

This draw was despite Pep Guardiola bringing on Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish as substitutes, two players that are not usually on the pitch at the same time.

Man City also had to substitute centerback Nathan Ake for youngster Rico Lewis in the 27th minute due to an injury.

Arsenal brought on Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, in a bid to change the scoreline, but it was not to be.

Some Premier League superstars featured in this game, including Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne; Norway’s Erling Haaland; Spain’s Rodri; England’s Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Declan Rice; Brazil’s Gabriel Jesus; Portugal’s Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva; and France’s William Saliba, among others.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City now have nine games to go, with Liverpool two points clear at the top of the table.
