Liverpool faces another setback in title race, hands victory to Crystal Palace

Liverpool continued their run of disappointing performances and disappointing results, as the Merseyside club lost at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, April 14.

Jurgen Klopp’s men welcomed Oliver Glasner’s red and blue army to Anfield, a clash which ended in defeat for Klopp.

Despite returning first choice goalie Alisson Becker to the starting lineup and starting captain Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Andrew Robertson, and Darwin Nunez, the Reds still had a horrendous first half showing.

Things picked up in the second half when key midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and later right back and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold were introduced to the game.

Palace, who started key players like Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, and Joachim Andersen, was still without first choice centerback Marc Guehi.

The game was decided by a well-worked goal scored by Eze in the 14th minute. Liverpool got close several times but was unable to find a goal to cancel out their visitor’s.

The loss leaves Liverpool in third place, with Manchester City occupying first place after a comprehensive victory against Luton Town at the weekend.
