Lere Olayinka posts 2023 video of Governor Fubara kneeling, responds to critics

Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has shared a throwback video showing Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara kneeling before the minister, a move that has drawn renewed attention to his recent controversial actions.
The video, recorded in 2023 when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Fubara the winner of the state governorship election, was posted by Lere on his Facebook page. He appeared to use the footage to justify his own recent conduct, which had attracted criticism.
Earlier, the Arise TV Morning Show had criticized Lere after he knelt during an event in what the hosts described as excessive deference. Host Reuben Abati called the act “sycophancy taken too far.”
In sharing Fubara’s throwback clip, Lere commented, “I am sure Oga Reuben Abati, EX-CONVICT rufaioseni and that Online Baseless Lawyer didn’t see this video then,” seemingly responding to prior criticisms of his behavior.
The post has sparked discussions on social media, with observers debating the appropriateness of public displays of deference by political aides and officials.
