Lagos partners NDLEA to tackle drug abuse in housing estates

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to partner with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to curb the sale and use of hard drugs in government-owned housing estates.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Mr. Abdulhafis Toriola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry, Mr. Ganiu Lawal.

Toriola gave the assurance when he received the NDLEA State Commander, Mr. Abubakar Liman Wali, and his team on a courtesy visit to his office in Ikeja.

He commended the NDLEA for its efforts in tackling drug abuse, creating awareness, and rehabilitating users, stressing that the ministry was ready to support the agency’s work.

According to him, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is determined to end illicit drug activities among youths as part of efforts to build healthy and sustainable communities.

In his response, Wali thanked the state government for its willingness to collaborate, noting that the NDLEA remains committed to promoting discipline, patriotism, and service to humanity in the fight against drug abuse.
