Lagos APC dismisses ADC’s claim that President Tinubu will be a 1 term leader

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s recent statement that President Bola Tinubu will only serve a single term in office. The APC referred to the assertion as “idle talk” and labeled it as laughable, pointing out the ADC’s lack of influence in Nigerian politics.
APC reacts to ADC’s statement
Seye Oladejo, the spokesperson for the Lagos APC, responded strongly to the ADC’s claim during a press briefing on Wednesday. Oladejo said the ADC is an association of political defectors that is “already on political life support” and will soon fade into irrelevance. The APC spokesman emphasized that the ADC has never been a serious contender in Nigerian politics and is unlikely to pose a threat to the current administration.

“The claim that President Tinubu will be a one-term president is nothing but idle talk,” Oladejo said. He continued by criticizing the ADC for making predictions about a president whose political experience and achievements are already well established. According to Oladejo, the ADC is not in a position to offer such judgments, considering it has never been able to win elections at the national level.
Tinubu’s leadership and Nigeria’s progress
Oladejo went on to highlight President Tinubu’s leadership and his efforts to steer Nigeria toward long-term growth and development. He pointed out that President Tinubu has only just begun implementing policies aimed at improving the nation, some of which previous leaders have avoided.
The Lagos APC spokesperson also referenced the proverb, “You don’t learn to walk by first attempting to run,” stressing that the Tinubu administration is laying the groundwork for meaningful transformation in Nigeria. He contrasted this with the ADC, which he described as directionless and unable to show any clear vision for the future of the country.
Oladejo further noted that, “A child who washes his hands clean will dine with elders.” He argued that President Tinubu’s decades of political service and sacrifices for Nigeria’s democracy have earned him the right to lead, unlike the ADC, which he suggested has repeatedly defected and lacks a firm foundation in Nigerian politics.
The ADC’s lack of influence in Nigerian politics
The APC spokesperson also dismissed the ADC as politically insignificant, stating that there is no evidence to suggest that the party could challenge the APC or even make a significant impact in the upcoming elections. Referring to the recent by-elections across the country, Oladejo pointed out that the APC had secured overwhelming victories, which he claimed were a clear endorsement of President Tinubu’s leadership and policies.
“These victories were not just about the candidates, but also a reflection of Nigerians’ confidence in President Tinubu’s administration,” Oladejo asserted. He further added that the ADC would do better in a circus arena than in the political arena, suggesting that the party’s lack of serious political presence made its claims irrelevant.
A strong mandate and future legacy
In conclusion, Oladejo reminded Nigerians that no amount of distractions from smaller parties like the ADC could derail President Tinubu’s administration. He reiterated the wisdom of the saying, “The hen’s cackle does not stop the sunrise,” implying that the ADC’s statements would not impede the successful leadership of the current president.
“The so-called prophecy of a one-term presidency is nothing but wishful thinking,” Oladejo said. He urged Nigerians to ignore such distractions and focus on supporting President Tinubu’s government, which he described as not only functioning but also consolidating a lasting legacy that future generations will value.
The APC’s response underscores its confidence in the Tinubu administration and its firm belief that the president’s leadership will continue to guide Nigeria toward progress and stability.
