Say party’s grassroots structure won’t be handed to opportunists
Concerned members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State have raised the alarm over what they describe as a plot to unconstitutionally take over the party’s leadership in the state.
At a press conference held on Wednesday in Kabba, the group’s spokesperson, Usman Lukman, warned that the ADC will not allow its structure — built over years through “sacrifice, loyalty, and discipline” — to be hijacked by outsiders or political opportunists.
“The ADC is governed by its constitution, values, and democratic ethos,” Lukman said.
“Any attempt to hijack it through unconstitutional means will be firmly resisted using every legal and constitutional instrument available.”
Accusations of infiltration by non-members
According to Lukman, credible intelligence suggests that individuals with no ties to the party are planning a power grab. He pointed fingers at unnamed actors who “recklessly destroyed the PDP” and are now allegedly trying to destabilize the ADC.
He reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to Chief Leke Abejide, calling him the “undisputed leader” of the ADC in Kogi and urging members to rally around him.

“Any gathering by faceless impostors is illegal, illegitimate, and a calculated attempt to breach the peace and security of Kogi,” he said.
Message to party members: stay calm, stay united
He encouraged all genuine ADC members to stay calm and committed to the party’s unity and vision, warning that the group would do whatever it takes — legally and constitutionally — to protect the party from internal sabotage.
“We will safeguard ADC’s hard-earned political structure from opportunists who neither share its vision nor values.”
