Khalid comes out as gay after being outed by fellow artist

‍On November 22, Grammy-nominated artist Khalid officially came out as gay in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter). The singer, known for hits like “Location,” responded to questions from fans with a rainbow flag emoji and a simple request to “move on to the next topic please lol.” When asked for clarification, Khalid confirmed his identity, writing, “and that’s okay.”

Khalid’s announcement comes after a series of controversial tweets from fellow recording artist Hugo Almonte. Almonte had previously accused Khalid of attempting to frame him for a break-in, sharing a now-deleted photo of the two together. Almonte later revealed that he had been holding onto the information for five years and decided to speak out after Khalid allegedly tried to silence him following the end of their relationship. Almonte also claimed he had received threats from people accusing him of seeking attention.

Addressing the situation on X, Khalid wrote, “I got outted and the world still continues to turn.” He emphasized that he is not ashamed of his sexuality and declared, “It ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me.”

Fans quickly rallied behind Khalid, with many pointing to his 2022 song “Satellite,” which had already been embraced by the LGBTQ+ community as an anthem. Khalid confirmed the song’s significance, responding to one fan, “thank you!!!! I was never hiding.”

Khalid’s open posts have been met with widespread support, with fans praising his honesty and bravery in the face of the controversy.
