Katsina government explains Radda’s verbal slip at APC rally, calls it a “human error”

On Monday, January 27, 2025, the Katsina State Government addressed a verbal slip made by Governor Dikko Radda during an APC rally, which had caused a stir in political circles.

At the rally, Governor Radda mistakenly said, “Katsina belongs to PDP,” despite Katsina being a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The error quickly sparked discussions across the state.

In a statement posted on Facebook by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the government described the mistake as a common and understandable human error. “Globally, verbal slip-ups are not only common but fundamentally human,” the statement read. “Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s recent momentary linguistic deviation during the campaign flag-off at Ingawa Local Government simply reflects this reality.”

The statement reassured the public that Governor Radda has been a loyal member of APC since its formation in 2014 and remains committed to the party’s vision for Katsina’s development.

“Far from being intentional, the governor’s verbal slip is a brief moment of human imperfection that does not diminish his unwavering loyalty to the APC and its developmental goals for Katsina State,” the statement clarified.

It further explained that such mistakes are not uncommon among political figures, pointing out similar incidents involving global and Nigerian leaders, including former U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron and former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.

The statement concluded by urging the people of Katsina to focus on the APC’s plans for progress and to view the verbal slip as a minor distraction. “Katsina State, under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, remains resolute as we prepare for the February 15th local government elections. The APC is poised to achieve historic victories across all 34 local government areas,” the statement said.

It called on voters to prioritize the APC’s progressive agenda for the state’s future.
