Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia State and senator representing Abia North, has expressed pride in the academic successes of his children, describing their performance as a source of personal fulfillment and evidence of strong parental guidance.
Kalu, in a Facebook post on Sunday after attending Mass, said the ongoing legislative recess had allowed him to focus on his family and support his children’s development as the new academic session approaches.
“The Senate recess gives me the opportunity to perform my parental duties, and it has contributed to the performance of my children, both academically and personally,” he wrote.
He highlighted the individual achievements of his children, noting that most had graduated with First Class honours from Ivy League institutions. According to him, his daughter Neya earned a Second Class Upper in Law; Michael and Zina graduated with First Class degrees in Law; Olivia, who is concluding her studies, is on track for a First Class in Economics; while Nicole, the youngest, is preparing for school resumption.
Kalu stressed that their academic excellence was the result of merit rather than privilege. “Their academic performance has nothing to do with financial strength, as they all went to Ivy League schools. Admission is strictly on merit,” he said.
Turning to politics, the senator reassured his constituents of Abia North of his commitment to effective representation. He pledged to continue focusing on constituency development once the Senate reconvenes.
“We will continue to project our constituency by ensuring that Abia North enjoys quality representation with more projects in the zone,” he concluded.
