Iheanacho joins Celtic on free transfer, reunites with Rodgers

New chapter begins in Scotland
Kelechi Iheanacho has officially joined Scottish champions Celtic, signing a one-year deal with the option of an extra year. The Nigerian forward joins the Glasgow side on a free transfer after parting ways with Spanish club Sevilla.
Reuniting with a familiar face
The move sees Iheanacho reunite with Brendan Rodgers, who coached him during their time together at Leicester City. Rodgers is now in his second spell as Celtic manager.
“Celtic is a massive club” — Iheanacho
Speaking to Celtic’s official website, Iheanacho said he’s thrilled to join the iconic club.
“I’m excited to be a Celtic player and I’m feeling really good about it. Celtic is a massive club and I’ve been following them for a long time,” he said.
Free move, big opportunity
At 28, Iheanacho brings plenty of experience to Celtic Park and will be looking to make an impact as the club defends its league title and prepares for European competition.
