The House of Representatives has officially confirmed Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
The confirmation took place after a report was presented by Babajimi Benson, the Chairman of the Committee on Defense, on Thursday, November 28th, 2024. The confirmation followed a screening session held by the Joint Committee on Army and Defense earlier on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024.
Oluyede’s nomination by President Bola Tinubu as the Acting COAS came after the passing of the former Army Chief, Taoreed Lagbaja, who had been ill prior to his death.
