GWR confirms feat after massive cook-a-thon in Lagos

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has broken yet another record — this time for cooking the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, officially recognised by Guinness World Records (GWR).

In a post shared via its verified X (formerly Twitter) account, GWR announced:

“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

Festival-style celebration drew thousands

The record-breaking moment took place on September 12, 2025, during a grand culinary event dubbed the Gino World Jollof Festival at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Thousands showed up to witness the event live, while millions more followed the action online through livestreams and social media buzz.

Hilda Baci: From marathon chef to jollof queen

Hilda first gained international fame in 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon, catapulting her into global culinary fame.

With this latest jollof rice milestone, she’s solidified her status as one of Nigeria’s most influential chefs, combining food, entertainment, and national pride.
