Griezmann extends Atletico Madrid contract until 2027

France’s 2018 World Cup-winning forward Antoine Griezmann has extended his contract with Atletico Madrid until June 30, 2027, the Spanish club announced on Monday.
“Griezmann and Atletico have reached a deal to renew the French footballer’s contract until June 30, 2027,” the club said in an official statement.
Griezmann, 34, is Atletico’s all-time leading scorer with 197 goals across two spells. His previous contract was set to expire in 2026.
Despite a difficult 2025 season—where he last scored in February and Atletico finished third in La Liga without a trophy—Griezmann remains a central figure at the club. He first joined Atletico in 2014 from Real Sociedad and played a key role in their 2018 Europa League triumph. He also helped them reach two Champions League finals.
After a challenging stint at Barcelona, where he won only the Copa del Rey, Griezmann returned to Atletico on loan in 2021 before making the move permanent.
Although he retired from international duty in 2024, Griezmann continues to contribute at club level. He and Atletico will take part in this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States, where they will face Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain on June 15.
