Governor Uba Sani inspires corps members on national unity

Kaduna governor urges youth to see service year as a chance to know nigeria

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has issued a passionate call to members of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Governor urged the fresh corps members to view their service year as a profound and unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of Nigeria. He delivered the charge during the closing ceremony held on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Governor Sani, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner of Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, stated that the program is more than just a compulsory civic duty. He emphasized that the service year is an integral chance for the youth to contribute meaningfully to national cohesion and development. He believes the scheme is essential for breaking down barriers among the diverse ethnic groups that constitute the nation.

Corps members commended for discipline and commitment during camp

The Governor commended the corps members for their exceptional discipline, commitment, and resilience throughout the intensive three-week orientation program. He acknowledged the rigorous physical and mental training they had undergone during the camping period. Their successful completion of the course is a testament to their dedication to the national call.

As the corps members prepare to leave the protective environment of the camp for their assigned host communities, Governor Sani reminded them of their primary mission. He declared that the NYSC year is their chance to truly know Nigeria, and, conversely, for Nigeria to know them. This reciprocal exposure is fundamental to building a unified and integrated nation.

Sani stresses vigilance and cultural integration in host communities

A critical part of the Governor’s address focused on the need for the corps members to prioritize their personal safety and security. He advised them to remain vigilant and acutely aware of their surroundings at all times during their deployment. Furthermore, he urged them to always report any suspicious individuals or situations immediately to the appropriate security authorities.

Governor Sani actively encouraged the youth to fully embrace the culture of their host communities across the state. He urged them to begin the process of learning local languages, which he described as essential for authentic integration. They were also encouraged to participate actively in local festivals and social activities to build crucial bridges across ethnic and religious lines.

Leaving positive footprints in schools, health facilities, and offices

The Governor challenged the corps members to make tangible and positive impacts in their primary places of assignment. He stated that they should strive to leave lasting, positive footprints wherever they are posted, be it in schools, health facilities, or government offices. Their small, individual contributions have the potential to create a tremendous, lasting impact on the communities they serve.

Their presence and professional service are invaluable assets, particularly in rural and underserved areas lacking essential manpower. By excelling in their roles, they contribute directly to improving the quality of education and healthcare services. This dedication is a practical expression of the national unity the NYSC scheme seeks to foster among young graduates.

Kaduna state government pledges commitment to improving welfare

Governor Sani assured the corps members of the Kaduna State Government’s unwavering commitment to their welfare and security throughout the service year. He noted that the administration strongly believes in the foundational ideals of the NYSC scheme. The state government is dedicated to continuously improving camp facilities and general welfare provisions for the benefit of every corps member.

This commitment demonstrates the government’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by the young graduates who leave their homes to serve the nation. The Governor promised to address logistical and welfare concerns promptly to ensure a smooth and productive service year. He hopes that this support will enable the youth to focus entirely on their mission of nation-building.

NYSC coordinator commends resilience and dedication to saed training

In her closing remarks, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Efeke Dadaza, highly commended the corps members for demonstrating a high level of resilience and dedication. She particularly highlighted their active participation in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training sessions. This training is crucial for equipping them with relevant skills for self-employment after service.

Mrs Efeke Dadaza expressed confidence that the current batch of corps members would undoubtedly excel during their post-camp service year. She advised them to accept their postings in good faith, seeing their assignments as a necessary part of the integration process. Furthermore, she urged them to actively participate in Community Development Service (CDS) projects to positively impact their host communities.

Corps members urged to be good ambassadors for their families

The Coordinator also reminded the departing corps members of their obligation to remain good ambassadors of their respective families and institutions. Their conduct in their host communities reflects not only on themselves but also on their various backgrounds and institutions of learning. Upholding integrity and professionalism is non-negotiable for all serving youth.

Finally, Mrs Efeke Dadaza used the opportunity to express sincere appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for its immense support in improving camp welfare and facilities. She also extended gratitude to all camp officials, partners, and various stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to the overall success of the orientation program. The entire partnership is crucial for advancing the mandate of the NYSC.
