Governor Nasir Idris vows to deliver Kebbi for Tinubu in 2027

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has officially pledged his administration’s full support to ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins the state in the 2027 general elections. The governor made this bold declaration on Monday, April 6, 2026, following a high-level stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, held in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.
The governor emphasized that the meeting served as a strategic platform to harmonize the party’s interests and resolve internal issues. He noted that the unity displayed by the various factions within the state chapter proves that the APC remains the dominant political force in the Northwest state.
Strategic stakeholders’ meeting unifies Kebbi APC
The gathering in Birnin Kebbi brought together the “who’s who” of Kebbi politics, signaling a consolidated front ahead of the next election cycle. Governor Idris explained that the primary focus of the meeting was to strengthen the party’s structure and address challenges that could hinder its future performance.
“This is a stakeholders’ meeting; we have met and discussed issues that directly affect our party,” Idris told journalists. While he remained tight-lipped about the specific tactical resolutions, he assured the public that the state Commissioner for Information would provide further details on the party’s roadmap in the coming days.
High profile attendance underscores party unity
The meeting was notable for its impressive attendance list, featuring both current federal cabinet members and veteran legislators. Among those present were the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Yusuf Tanko-Sununu. Their presence highlighted the synergy between the state government and the federal executive.
Furthermore, the participation of Senators Adamu Aliero and Yahaya Abdullahi pointed toward a reconciliation of various political interests within the state. Governor Idris believes that this level of cooperation is essential for maintaining the party’s stronghold in a region that is critical to national electoral success.
Confidence in APC’s grassroots support
Governor Idris expressed immense confidence in the loyalty of the Kebbi electorate, stating that the residents remain firmly committed to the APC. He attributed this support to the various developmental projects and human capital interventions initiated by both the state and the Tinubu-led federal government.
According to the governor, the people of Kebbi see the APC as the only party capable of delivering sustainable growth. He maintained that the state would not only support the president’s reelection but would also ensure a landslide victory that surpasses the 2023 performance.
Looking ahead to the 2027 political landscape
As the countdown to the 2027 general elections begins, Kebbi State is positioning itself as a “safe zone” for the ruling party. The governor’s pledge is seen as a move to silence the opposition and reassure the presidency of the North’s continued backing.
The APC leadership in the state has promised to embark on a massive membership drive and grassroots sensitization program. Governor Idris concluded by stating that the party’s door remains open to defectors who wish to join the “winning team” and contribute to the state’s progress under the APC banner.
