Google launches Pixel 10 with bold AI upgrades and new devices

Pixel 10 puts AI front and center

Google unveiled its latest Pixel 10 smartphone line-up on Wednesday, putting artificial intelligence (AI) at the heart of its Android experience.

The new range includes a foldable phone, upgraded Pixel Watch 4, and refreshed Pixel Buds — all designed to work together with Google’s AI tools.

“Pixel continues to be the best way for people to try out the latest bleeding-edge AI from Google,” said product manager Tyler Kugler during a press briefing.

Google flexes its Android ecosystem

While Google’s Pixel phones make up a small slice of the premium smartphone market — dominated by Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi — they’ve always served as a way for Google to show off what’s possible with Android.

Now, 10 years into the Pixel journey, the goal is still less about winning market share and more about proving the power of Google’s ecosystem, says Forrester analyst Thomas Husson. “In the age of AI, it is a true laboratory of innovation,” he noted.

The strategy echoes Apple’s tight hardware-software integration and helps push other Android phone makers to follow Google’s lead.

Pixel AI is getting seriously smart

One of the standout features of Pixel 10 is its deeper integration with Google’s Gemini AI assistant. The assistant can now use your phone’s camera to “see” what you see — offering real-time suggestions or context for what’s in front of you, like landmarks, menus, or outfits.

Gemini also adapts to the mood of the person speaking and can give smarter, more human-like responses — even from your wrist.

New Pixel Watch 4 gets a major glow-up

The Pixel Watch 4 has been redesigned from the ground up. The big upgrades? Smarter fitness tracking that can tell if you’re walking, biking, or playing tennis, and tighter integration with Gemini AI. You can talk to the assistant directly from the watch, adding even more utility for everyday tasks.

What about the competition?

Google isn’t the only brand going hard on AI. Samsung’s Galaxy line, including the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold7, is also packed with AI features. But with Apple still seen as slow to adopt next-gen AI tools, Google sees a major opportunity to lead the conversation.

For now, Pixel remains a niche player — less than 5% of the global market — but it’s playing a strategic long game, using its hardware to shape the future of Android and AI.
