Germany celebrates hard-fought win against Netherlands

Germany managed to edge past Netherlands in their second friendly of this international break, needing an 85th-minute goal to win it.

The match was played at the Deutsche Bank Park in Germany yesterday, March 26.

The game looked like it was going Netherlands’ way when midfielder Joey Veerman scored to put the visitors ahead in the 4th minute, but Germany left back Maximilian Mittelstäd scored just seven minutes later to put the hosts level.

The game continued at 1-1 until the last five minutes, when substitute Niclas Fullkrug bundled a Kroos corner over the goal line, forcing the officials to use goal-line technology to declare a goal.

Other superstars like Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, Bayern’s Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich, and Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger also started for Germany.

Netherland and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk started for the away side, alongside popular faces like Bayern’s Matthijs De Ligt, Manchester City’s Nathan Ake, and Atletico Madrid’s Memphis Depay.

Germany is one of few countries to win both of their international friendlies this break.
