Fubara affirms peace with Wike, seeks Tinubu’s guidance in governing Rivers

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has assured that peace has fully returned to the state, pledging to work with stakeholders to sustain the calm in the interest of the people.

Mr Fubara gave the assurance on Monday while speaking with State House correspondents shortly after a thank-you visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together,” the governor said.

He explained that the visit to the President was necessary following his official resumption of duties after six months of emergency rule in Rivers State.

“You’re aware that the suspension was lifted midnight Sept. 17, and I came in on the 19th. Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr President and to tell him that I’m back, and I’ve also resumed my responsibility as the Governor of Rivers State,” Mr Fubara said.

The governor added that the meeting also provided an opportunity to seek President Tinubu’s guidance to forestall future political crises in the state.

“It’s not much. It’s father-son discussion, telling him thank you, and the areas where, if at all, there should be any issue for him to guide me properly so that we don’t be in any situation of crisis,” he said.

Mr Fubara also declared an end to the political feud with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
